York Region expanding second COVID-19 vaccines for eligible residents

Beginning Monday, July 5, 2021 at 8 a.m. York Region will open approximately 25,000 new COVID-19 vaccines appointments to the following eligibility groups:

  • Individuals 12+ who live, work or go to school in York Region and received a first dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna)
  • Individuals who received AstraZeneca as their first dose and have chosen to receive an mRNA vaccine for their second dose at an eight-week interval
  • All individuals 12+ who live, work or go to school in York Region and have not yet booked their first dose appointment

Beginning Monday, June 14, 2021, individuals in York Region who received a first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine will be eligible to book an appointment for a second dose of either AstraZeneca or an mRNA (Pfizer of Moderna) vaccine at an eight-week interval.

Eligible residents who do not yet have a second dose appointment can also book on the SoccerCity sign up form.

Beginning Monday, June 7, 2021 at 8 a.m., eligible individuals who live, work or attend school in York Region that received their first dose on or before April 18, 2021 and who already have a second-dose appointment booked now have the option to re-book an earlier appointment. New appointments can be booked online or by phone by visiting york.ca/COVID19Vaccine

Eligible residents who received their first dose on or before April 18, 2021 who do not yet have a second dose appointment can also book on the SoccerCity sign up form.

York Region expanding second COVID-19 vaccines to residents age 70 years and older

Effective immediately, eligible York Region residents 70 years of age an older (born 1951 or earlier) can book an appointment for their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Residents age 70+ who already have a second dose appointment booked now have the option to re-book an earlier appointment. Eligible residents age 70+ who do not yet have a second dose appointment can also book an appointment at this time. Appointments can be booked online or by phone by visiting york.ca/COVID19Vaccine

Ontario announced the accelerated roll out of second dose appointments, starting with individuals 80+ beginning Monday, May 31, 2021, followed by individuals aged 70 and over scheduled to begin the week of June 14, 2021.  York Region continues to deliver vaccines identified in the Government of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan.

Effective Monday, May 31, 2021 York Region residents age 80years of age and older can book an appointment for their second COVID-19 vaccination by visiting the SoccerCity sign up form.

The Regional Municipality of York is advancing those eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations to York Region residents age 40 years and older (born 1981 and earlier) as the Region continues to deliver vaccines identified in the Government of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan.

Effective Wednesday, May 10, 2021 York Region residents age 40 years of age and older can book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccination by visiting the SoccerCity sign up form.

The Regional Municipality of York continues to deliver vaccines identified in Phase One of the Government of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan and is advancing those eligible for vaccine to York Region residents 80 years of age and older.

Effective Monday, March 1, 2021 beginning at 8 a.m. York Region residents age 80 years of age and older (born in 1941 or earlier) can book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccination by visiting york.ca/COVID19Vaccine

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library, in partnership with the Office of the Mayor, the Stouffville Christian Ministerial Association and Markham Vaccinates, announced the launch of Stouffville Vaccinates.

This free assistance program will help Stouffville seniors (ages 65+) register for their vaccination appointment.  It will also provide transportation to the appointment if required.

Seniors can call the Library to register for this free program by calling 905-642-7323 ext. 5230 from Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
