Council and Committee Meetings

Closure of Town Hall

Whitchurch-Stouffville Town Hall, located at 111 Sandiford Drive, is currently closed to the public. Therefore, no scheduled Council Meetings, Public Meetings (considering matters governed by the Planning Act), or Council Appointed Committee meetings will be held in the building.   For more information about our building closures, please visit our COVID-19 web page or our media release page.

How meetings are taking place

The provincial government passed emergency legislation on March 19, 2020 that permitted Ontario municipalities to hold Council and Committee meetings electronically during the COVID-19 emergency.  Bill 187, the Municipal Emergency Act 2020, gives municipalities the ability to ensure Councils, Committees and Municipal Boards can meet virtually to make key decisions without needing to meet physically – given the societal necessity for social distancing and isolation.

Council Meetings, Public Meetings (considering matters governed by the Planning Act), and Council Appointed Committee Meetings are being held virtually according to schedule. On April 7, Town Council agreed to amend the starting times of all Council meetings during the emergency to 1 p.m. EST. The Mayor and Council, plus all required Town staff, will be available within the virtual meeting.
